The ski area and the resort are from the ideas and the will of Jean Vuarnet, our local Olympic champion.

Avoriaz, born in 1962, from a development agreement between the town of Morzine and a group of development and construction since become "Pierre et Vacances."

In 1967, the first buildings and hotels (The Dromonts) were inaugurated.

Avoriaz develops and identifies itself as a major achievement about the architecture of the 20th century (Labro-Roques-Orzoni) and the urban aspect : no cars, roads / tracks, specific transports.

The development and construction have always been the work of Pierre et Vacances Group, who was founded by Mr. Gerard Bremond.

In those years 2010, a new breath of modern tourism and economic real estate with new facilities (swimming pool, spa, covered parking, new visitor center ...) is taking place under the supervision of Morzine-Avoriaz (UTN 2009).

A new heavy lift replacing the old cable lift is being built for 2012.
